I got my car back last night after they did a bunch of warranty work to it (trunk/bumper clips, rotor replacements, TCM replacement) When I "really" looked at the car this morning I was kind of disappointed. I thought that when they would fix the bumper, so it did not scrape the trunk lid, that they would pull the bumper "in"...towards the middle of the car. Instead they pulled it down(the trunk lid still touches the top of the bumper slightly). Now there is a slight gap(just less than 1/4") in between the tailights and the bumper. Did anyone else who got this done experience that?

Sorry to hear that....

..that's why I cringe at the thought of the dealer doing this kind of work. Yes, change my oil and tune me up, sure, but monkey with a part and cosmetically alter the appearance of my car, no way, no THANKS!

So, they replacing the Rotors for free?

My Steering wheel shakes when I brake.

Is there a TSB on this?

Thanks.

Rotors

I told them I was getting vibration when braking at 45+ mph and asked the dealer to check the rotors. Tehy found that they were indeed warped. Since I only had 16K miles on the car they replaced them and put new brake kits on for free...under warranty. Go to dealer and ask them to check it out. check http://www.nhtsa.com for theTSB...I think there is one on there but not 100% sure.

Actually, I went to the dealer on Tuesday about the truck lid and the brakes. I was armed with the TSB numnbers which I gave them. They acknowledged the trunk lid one, which they are ordering new clips for (they are doing the repairs at no charge). But now I'm a little queasy since I saw MABFNAR's comments.

On the brakes, I also have, or rather had, the shaking of the steering when I brake at medium - high speeds. This is due to one or both front rotor(s) bweing warped. The guy at the dealer said that there is a 12,000 mile warranty on the brakes but because I'm over that, I have to pay to have the rotors cut. The TSB for the brakes deals with a "groan" when braking, not specifically warped rotors. BTW, the TSB # for that one is NTB00016. So I paid to have them cut. I just wanted them fixed and couldn't bother arguing. Therefore, if you are below 12,000 miles you should be covered for a free fix for the rotors.

Peace...

I was over 12K and they replaced my rotors free of charge...
Plus I just talked to my dealer and told him about my bumper still hitting the trunk lid(actually vice versa) and that the bumper was pulled down instead of in and he said bring it back in and they will take care of it...he said it was their first one. thankfully he did not give me a hard time at all...especially considering the TSB gave an estimate of 1 1/2 hours work time and it originally took them 6 hours...(wait thats not good)...oh well as long as it gets fixed.

I had my bumper realigned on Tuesday. It took them much longer than they expected. I was their first one as well. The adjustment is very slight, but enough to stop the lid from hitting the bumper. I still have to go back for them to buff out the scratches. I notice that my bumper fascia is slighty out of line with the rear of the car now. It is very slight and takes a while to notice. This is expected, since the clips move the bumper fascia 2mm (est) forward. They will fix my head rests when I bring the car back in next week to do the buffing.

My turn on Tuesday

My appointment is for Tuesday and I am the first one - they hadn't even heard about the TSB until I brought it in. I am definitely nervous about those hacks getting their hands on my Max. They said it looked too bad to buff out and no repaint was called for. WTF is that about. I hate my dealer.

I am just curious. My 2000 has 26,000 miles on it, and the steering wheel doesn't shake and what's this bumper hitting the trunk thing? I've never heard of that....

Open your Trunk...look at the top of your bumper...if you see scratches on the bumper than your trunk is hitting it...
Monday they are going to try to redo the bumper to pull it in towards the body...I'm crossing fingers they get it right

Re: My turn on Tuesday

What??? That's crazy. It looks to bad to buff out... let's leave big nasty scuff marks and scratches visible. I would go beserk if they told me that. I would call up the Nissan folks on this one.

Does anyone have a picture of how the trunk scratches the bumper? Mine doesn't do it, and for the life of me, I can't see how it would unless the trunk lid was waaaay messed up!

Paul,

Thanks for the info. I already did this morning. I got the standard 'you will be contacted in 4 - 6 business days'. Whatever.
