Want to gauge some interest in the development of a bolt-on Turbo kit for the 1995-2001 Nissan Maxima...

I realize many people are fed up with the quality of the Stillen Supercharger kit, especially the V2 & 5th gen kits, and I would like to offer an alternative...

Pricing can not be determined yet, as prototyping is not yet complete, but I would guess that the basic kit would be pretty close in price to that of the the Stillen SC kit...

Please post some feedback here & I'll try to respond to as many questions as possible...

Could you promise similar or greater power gains than the Stillen SC?

There will be before & after dyno's done as well as real world drag strip testing.
I know how big everybody here is on PROVING a product, so I'm prepared to spend the time & money testing & improving...testing & improving...
It's all a part of the R&D process...
Tuning is essential in any forced induction setup...
It will probably be at least a few months before the finished product is ready to be released...
& as we get closer to that time, I'll make some promises.

Hey 4DSC, if you can come up with a bolt on unit, including all the extra fitting & parts and complete installation instruction, euhm... then that year I will probably forget to contribute to my RSSP and transfer the money to 4DSC tubo Max fund. Keep us informed of development and performance.

You can count me in if all the if are answered.

cheers

I would be interested

Kev seems to be the only one who has had decent luck with the SC. Put me on the mailing list as you get closer to release.

I'm in

I'd definately go for the turbo instead. Ah, the sound of the BOV. Plus I've heard a lot of problems with the stillen S/C and stalling with 5-spd's.

Interested for sure but was hoping the price would be lower than the Stillen SC.

It may be...
All depends on how cheap I can get the parts...
Once I buy in quantity the price will surely go down...

This sounds great. Can you let us know when you do test it on the track? I'm from Jersey as well and would like to witness the run. Keep us posted.

yes, see the "General Maxima" Forum for that thread.
The 5th gen kit will come first...because my car is a 5th gen which is the prototype car...
From that I will modify the kit to fit 4th gens as there is not that much of a difference between the two...
No plans for 3rd gen kit though.

I think I would easily forget about my 5spd conversion in February in favor of a turbo. Basically, in Feb., my car's gonna see either forced induction or a 5spd, and I'd take the turbo over the 5spd. Count me in!

Why don't you make your own kit first, let us see how it works out, then gauge interest.

Re: Turbo did you say Turbo???

hahaha, it aint gonna be BOLT ON. Turbo's need feed and return oil lines that will most likely tap into the oil pan. Once those holes are drilled, i dont consider it BOLT ON.

Personally I'd be more in favor of a SC because it has no turbo lag while providing good power. Anyways I'd be down because a turbo would sure be better than a Stillen SC!

UPDATE...

We just moved into our new shop in Asbury Park, NJ and we're now going to continue with the development of the Maxima turbo-kit. YES, I've decided to keep my 2000 Maxima rather than trade it in on a 2002. We expect it will be complete within the next few weeks.

I might!

Here are my worries:

- I have to upgrade my suspension/wheels to make my car withstand the newfound powre?

- Engine mounts, those things are a pain to install if I break them with the turbo.

- Reliability is still the question, emission, fuel economy, etc.

- stock auto <--------- Kev
