Since our Max doesn't have a MAP sensor, how does the ECU know when you're cruising 000's of feet above sea level as compared to sea level?

If the moderator see fit to moved thread, my bad. But isn't it Max realted?

The 3rd gen and 1995 Maxes don't have a MAP sensor, but 1996 and up Maxes do. But your question is a good one; I'd also like to know the answer.

computer control

I bought my last car in CO at 7,000 Ft (11pst vs 14psi at sea level, thats 3 lbs of boost needed just to compensate for altitude) and then brought it to the coast. I asked the dealer if I needed to do anything driving it in all over and they said that the computer controls everything. Based on how much air is comming in (MAF) and how it is burned (the O2 sensor) the compouter will adjust. There is a loss of HP at higher altitudes but the only thing that can help that is forced induction (BOOST).
