As some of you might already know, my driver side headlight was damaged. I posted a topic on how to fix it. Anyway, I took out the headlight(thanks JacksMax!)today, and removed the chips of glass. I also removed the grill to gain access to the headlight. Well, since I took these out already, I thought why not just get the '97+ headlights and grill? My question is will they fit my '96? Is it as simple as putting in the new '97+ headlights and grill? Are they the same configuration as the '95-'96? Or do I need some modification? I am hoping that they would fit in perfect, so I wouldn't have to do any mod for them to fit. Thanks!

Btw, how much would a '97+ headlights and grill cost me? $500? I'm planning to go to the dealer and ask. There is no junkyard around where I live, or anywhere close. So, the dealer is my only choice.

No problem for me putting on 97 grill and ,

headlights. If you buy your lights and grill from a local nissan dealer they will charge you around $700,so you just might want to look into going through Courtesy Nissan or go aftermarket,or find a junkyard.

Well, cool! Ya got it apart! Now, on to the Q of replace it with 97+ parts? Dunno. I specialize in disassembly! Send some pix on this when you get it done!

Hey, anyone out there know if the I30 parts [headlights/grille/taillights] fits a '96 Max? And if so, what years?

Jack

$700?! Crap! That's a lot. How much cheaper does Courtesy Nissan charged? Where you got your '97+ headlights and grill?

Oh, I don't think anyone makes aftermarket headlights for the Maxima. Right?

I bought both of my aftermarket headlight housing units for just under 400 canadian! This translates to like 250 american. It might be cheaper purchasing them from up in the north (canada, eh) or at least going aftermarket!

cheers

aftermarket

Actually, awhile back--this must have been 2-3 months ago when this was the old board and someone had the same question as yourself, about putting the new headlights and new grill on a 95/96 max. In any case, he posted a link--to an autostore that specializes in aftermarket cars--parts to replace stock parts--and I recall seeing on the site the healights were about 80-90 a piece (for each side) but I didn't see the grill...

i'll dig in the old posts--but you should take a look around first--cause 700 is a crap-load of mula.

Re: aftermarket

I have replaced my headlights already. As far as the grill, I heard it will not match the bumper. I got my headlights out of my friends mom's car, she didn't even notice. Go to my site (unfinished) to look at the pic.

nismo96max: I checked out your site. That's one tight looking Maxima! Very nice. Where you bought the matching screen for the vallance opening?

I thought it over, and think maybe I should get the '97+ headlights, but not get the '97+ grill. Instead, I'll go for the Stillen SMX grill.

fivelitrekiller: Where you bought your aftermarket headlights from?

Hey Mr.Cumalot,

I purchased my grill from a local nissan dealer for $200,and I purchased after market lights for $112 each which includes 2 day shipping at http://www.autodirectsave.com ,it seems as if there site is currently under construction {last I checked}.Just go to the site and see if you can find there # there and call them. There customer service was exelant shipping was free and only took 2 days and the lights looked the same as real nissan headlights.

Thanks emax95 for that site info. I place an order for the 97+ headlights. Much cheaper than getting at my local dealer. I asked my local dealer, and they wanted $650!

I'm going to order the SMX grill too. It doesn't come painted right? When I get the grill, should I install it first, then go get it painted? Or should I go get it painted first, then install it?
