'00 255HP vs '02 255HP Max, who wins?

I was just curious. how they compare.. which one will have the edge? How does the fact that the 02 has 3.5 play into the argument?
THanks
Roger

i dunno... i think the 2002 has the edge... especially on the highway cause of the displacement... i forgot who said it but there was a saying that goes something like "there is no replacement for displacement" i kinda agree with that...

Think it comes down to power/weight ratio all other things being equal.

A five speed 0 or 01 might have a chance against an auto 02 but I would not put money on it.
The 6 speed 02 with lim slp is going to have a big jump in traction out of the hole.

Again the 02 probably has the advantage. The 02 has more cubes, variable valve timing and many other upgrades. These would give it more "area under the curve" which means a lot more than just a peak to peak HP comparison.

a dyno'd 00 max with 255 hp to the wheels might take a 02 max with 255 hp to the crank, auto or not.

If it dyno'd at 255 to the wheels then of course it would beat an 02 6spd which will likely dyno at around 215 to the wheels (assuming 15% drivetrain loss). The only things that'll get a 2k to 255 is supercharger or nitrous.

If they both dyno'd even, I would still expect the 02 to win because it has more torque and all of the hp curve can be used - unlike the 2k.

"replacement for displacement"

i do believe the replacement for discplacement = forced induction

the 2002 6 speed manual does have an adavantage of shorter gear box...which mean, if all things were the equal..the 02 will pull ahead..
