Anyone installed A.E. aero kit?

Has anyone installed the OEM Anniversary Edition aero kit one their car? Is this an easy install, does it use 3M double stick foam tape? Are there clearance issues with the stock muffler?

Don't know how it goes on but I am still trying to figure out how it comes off before I take it into the shop. Any ideas fellas?

Yes, I've installed it..and No, it's not an easy install. It is very time consuming so if you have the paitence for it, then go ahead!! just to let you know, the templates are all wrong, so it took me 5 hours just to get the front aligned perfectly. It took a lot of dry fitting, paitence and thinking. If you can get people to help you, then by all means, the more heads the better. Seriously. This install is not for the faint of heart, but if you do go ahead and install it, then PM me with your email addy and I'll try and let you in on some tips, but please, only if you are going to install it, since there are a lot of tips.

Rob'sAE, once it's stuck,....it's stuck. Yes, the pieces are foam taped on and bolted in. I don't think you can get it off easily, and if you take it off you would expose the holes in your body.

There are no clearance issues with the stock muffler. Try doing a search on this topic, cause it came up about a month or less ago. I think it was in a thread started by me about "pics of AE kit." So it explains it in more detail there.

Thanks for the feedback. What did you pay for your kit and where did you purchase it.

Paid less than 1050 + shipping(for me it was more than what you will pay, though not much), from Dave B.

I am not worried about the holes, I want to take off what I can so I can sell it. I was rear ended and am getting 2 new bumpers with AE kits pre installed. I figure that If I am getting new ones why not take the old ones off to better benefit someone else.

I've already got 2 people in line for them, if they both fall thru then you will be next in line.

if you paid that much for your kit doesnt it make sense to buy an aftermarket (eg stillen) kit? I saw it advertised for 900 on some website

Well you still gotta paint the kit, and they may slightly mismatch colors when they paint em. The Stillen and AE kit are different, the AE just sticks out, doesn't lower ground clearance at all. Stillen does, but also looks different, rounder. I'd personally take the Stillen kit if I had the cash.

I have a question...

Does anyone know if we can just order the center piece from the AE kit? If so, how much would it be?

Which center piece are you talking about? You can probably order it through DaveB or from any dealer parts department.

Actually neither kit really lowers ground clearance. The Stillen might just a little bit, but it's all on optical illusion by bringing the tapering underside out towards you. And to Y2MaxGXE-R, Ludacris is right. You still have to paint the kit, and serin is right...the white pearl paint is very difficult to match. There is a thread out about this now in the 5th gen forum.

Which kit people like better is all about personal taste. And for me to have gotten an aftermarket kit would have had me run into problems with the law. Not to mention difficulties in matching paint. Even with my factory AE kit on, I think I may have to get papers for it. I can't even change my rims without papers. To those who have seen the previous explanation you would understand. We can't freely mod our cars where I live. There's a lot of rules and regs. It sucks.

$1050??? do they come pre-painted or do you have to paint them afterwards?

are they made out of urethane or fiber glass? or is it just plastic?

just curious...

Pre-painted, color matched, everything. They are ABS plastic.

Well on the OEM AE kit, the rear does not completely wrap around so they provided what they call "end caps" which sort of taper off right around the exhaust cut-out. Of course it's even on both sides. But when I look at the actual AE kit, it has a middle piece. I guess I'll just call and find out. Thanks Tannmann9.

I'm from Hawaii. I have permission, but have to meet stringent guidelines. Cops even patrol around in souped up everyday cars to get speeders and racers...that's how bad it is.

The middle portion you are talking about is the same one that I'm looking for too...however, the middle protion comes unpainted and is very expensive...over 300 I believe. However, the 300+ might be for the entire rear section. It's not worth getting it new. The more and more I look at it, the more and more it looks like a true kit though. Cause it provides some definition, different from what the normal AEs have. My friends like it a lot better than if I had the center piece, but I want one to experiment with.
