Hey all,

I am in the process of removing the outer cv boot myself and ran into some problems. My cv boot is tearing and it's bleeding lots and lots of grease. I was wondering if there was only ONE bolt to remove the wheel/brake portion from the control arm. I unscrewed the one bolt and I have been trying to pry them apart with a ball socket remover...but it's so damn tight. I've been banging the connection with a hammer and still won't come out. I've checked in the Chilton's manual...but the picture only shows direction for a 3rd gen maxima with 3 bolts to hold the ball-socket in place. In the 4th gen I believe there's only one bolt...can someone confirm this please? Thanks all...now I'll keep on trying to separate it. Thanks

 

Yes.. One nut... I used a tool that lookerd like a mini pully puller.. it pops right off..
Then you remove the big nut in the middle.. You will need to put a screw driver into the rotor to stop it from spinning..
Then you take the 2 bolts the bolt that assemble to the strut. You then pull it away (floding it down and forward) so as to slide the shaft from the center of the wheel set-up.
