My A/T is DOA
My A/T is DOA
My trannie died a coulpe of weeks ago 250 miles from home. I almost had it repaired there, but one of my co-workers (who was coming to the job site anyway with his F250 PowerStoke) volunteered to borrow a car trailer and tow it back for me. Man, am I glad I didn't leave it with those "mechanics", the shop looked more like a junk yard than a repair facility.
First gear and reverse are gone. I dropped the pan today, hoping that it was just a stuck plunger or broken spring in the valve body. I installed the Transgo kit back in February, so I was hoping it was someting there. NO SUCH LUCK! There are metal pieces in the pan; definately something major.
Since a remanufactored A/T is $2600 and a Level Ten is $3264 (both + $200 freight) and since I would also need a new torque converter at ~$600, it looks like I will be making the 5-speed conversion.
Wish me luck!
