recommendations on wheel wax

I have a '95 gle with the original alloy wheels. The lake erie winters and salt are killing my wheels. What do you guys recommend for protecting the wheels to prevent any further damage?

I recommend Meguiars #26. It is pure wax and contains zero abrasives. I've used it since day one on my car and the clearcoat on my alloys is like new. I never have to use brakes dust cleaner or the like since the wax protects the clearcoat so well.

Good luck.

I would have to say either Mother's or Meguir's.

Monil,

I know this sounds crazy, but here is the way I used to protect my chrome rims on my Jeep during the winter months here in the midwest.

When I know the temperature will not be above 50 Deg "F" for more than a day or two after it starts getting cold, I waxed my rims with Meguiars. I then would take some Vasoline and coat the wheels. I put about 1/16" thick on the wheel and I leave it on until spring. The wheel will turn black over the next few months, but the salt or other chemicals used on the road will penatrate the vasoline coating. I wait until the weather warms up and the vasoline starts to get a little runny, then I wash off the wheels and they are nice and shinny without any damage.

6 of us with chrome wheels would do this every year, and it worked for us every winter.
