I am selling my rockford fosgate power 500a amp. the factory test shows over 950 watts into a 2 ohm channel. lots of POWER!!! MAKE AN OFFER.

 

how is that possible?? i have the 800a2 and the factory test of mine shows 970 at the same setup.

 

My 500a only showed 667 at 2ohms. Yours is putting out more power than an 800a? How is that possible?

 

I have the power series amp. the rating is exactly 946.2 at 2 ohms into a single channel. The sheet came with the amp. Is your amp a Power series or just punch. they have the same numbers 500,a 800a, etc. however are two seperate series of amps.

 

Yea the power series does make a difference, but did not know that there was that much of a difference, that is probably why the that line is usually $150-200 more.

sounds weird. my 1100a2 is rated at 1375...

 

i had purchased the amp from crutchfield in 00' i had it in my old car for 8 months, and i took it out when i got my i30 in march. the amp works fine, besides there is still a warranty until november.

 

Also note that Fosgate has always been notorious for building "ringer" amps...

and somehow, only the ringers used to turn up in competition vehicles... about 1 in 10 amps they made would put out over double their rated power.. most put out around 50% over, but a rare few would put out 2-3x...
probably some kid in the assembly line sticking monster transistors in the smaller amps.

 

I know my amp is rated at 125 x 2 factory spec so i was as shocked as anyone when i opened up the box and saw over 950 watts! i thought it was wrong, but trust me it's a beast. if no one bids to buy by 10-03-01 i am putting it in my i30 with some jl w3's. the offer still stands however.
