2003 Maxima to be built in Tennessee

WSJ article
To create 2000 U.S. jobs.
Do you think maybe the quality will go down?
I sure hope they don't unionize.

When we bought our 2000 Accord SE we found out it was the only Accord available from this generation thats built in Japan and shipped here.

If they are put together by robots and designed by Nissan, they should be fine.

After all, we are not talking about a GM plant here.

USA Today, also

USAToday

Few comments I found interesting:
"It's coming to Smyrna because the redesigned Maxima will share underpinnings with the 2002 Nissan Altima, already built there."

"Nissan eventually will build two SUVs and a minivan off the same basic platform, called "Altimax" inside Nissan, Hall says."

The Smyrna workers will vote on joining the UAW next Wednesday (Oct 3rd).

This plant has been rated the most productive for 2 or 3 straight years. We had a '95 Altima from Smyrna that was trouble free for 45,ooo miles.

Not sure about how the union will effect the plant if they vote it in - I had a Mazda built by union workers in Flat Rock, MI that was a piece of garbage.
