I30/I35 grille transplant

To all the I30 owners who have been fiendin' over the front grille on the new I35 and wanted to know if it would fit the I30...

...It fits exactly. I just spent about 15 minutes removing the old one and putting the new one on. The install was pretty easy.

The only "Gotcha" was the fact that the grille and emblem are two separate items and you'll need to order them both. The emblem snaps into the grille before you install it.

Grille Kit-Front: Part# 62310-5Y800
Price $225.80, Vendor=INF

Ornament-Front: Part# 62892-5Y800
Price $31.40, Vendor=INF

Hope this helps. I was glad to get rid of the "Buick-Style" grille. The new one looks pretty cool.

(Heck the I-series is pretty much the same as the Maxima except for different sheet-metal so I hope nobody minds my posting here...)

Congrats on the grill swap ! IMO the new grille does have a cleaner / sharper look.

the grille and the emblem are separate parts? ouch
Didn't notice that when i saw the car in showroom. Guess Nissan's just trying to make more money given any opportunities.

Now go get yourself some of that I35 chrome exhaust tip too

I don't know...I'm sorta ambivalent toward the new grille. I like how it's a cleaner, simpler design. But that makes it look too normal, the older 'waterfall' grille looked pretty elegant. (I also like those Lincoln grilles, guess I'm a sucker for verticle bars?)

grill

The new I35 grill looks like any other car. The I30 grill has more of a shine and classy look. I would however like to have HIDs on my I30.

Any I30 owners out there use a HID upgrade kit? Where did they get it?? Results?

Thanks

With today's technology, we can see what our car looks like before modding it.

Hi Kalbundy,

i think the silver/chrome front grille goes well with the whole car, cuz we got some other chrome parts on the exterior (ie, door handles, the lines on front&rear bumper).

I'd say keep the chrome front. If you want to black out the grille to go with ur smoked headlite housing, get the door handle body colored as well. The new I35 comes with body colored door handles, i'm sure u can find those parts from Infiniti dealers.

Just my 2 cents

Way a head of you. Ya the silver on my black looks good, but thats not me. On my old maxima right before it was totaled i blacked out all the silver on the car so like everything was black. right now im thinking of, if i go thru with it, to swap outdoor handles (im sure maxima ones would fit also. and then black out the trim on my windows and bumpers, the rear where it says infiniti and the symbols and where it says I30t. i know id like it then.

Thanks! Actually I've received mixed responses from friends of mine, but most of them like the I35 grille because they say it makes the car look like a mini-Q45. I guess it's just a matter of taste.

Hey, while we are on the topic of exhaust (tips), is it true that if I replace the muffler/exhaust I need to get one with downward-pointing tips because they generate back-pressure required for the 2000/2001 v30qde to breathe more hp than the pre-2000? I've heard this a few times. The I35 has tips that point straight out, not down.

Pics: I have to get mine developed, but here is a link to a photo-page for the I35. I think mine looks a little bit better because the car is grey/Titanium with the darked-out "t" headlight treatment.

Hey MaineI30... why did you "delete" the car PC? We were passing around the URL to your I30t page here at work and everyone thought it was totally cool...

Why didn't you tell me you thought it was cool, then? Maybe I wouldn't have deleted it. If Bill or Steve had dropped a note, I maybe even would have put a logo on it...

Actually I'm on the R&D side, not Marketing. And I'm with FrontPage/SharePoint, not any of the Operating Systems. Now if you were planning to do some web-hosting from your car, that would be a completely different story...

I have to run to a Kinko's and scan them in.

But to be honest with you, it looks exactly like the front of a 2002 I35. The only thing that changed about the 2002 I35's front fascia was the new grille. The lights and everything else on the front were left exactly the same between 2000/2001 and 2002. I mean even the screw-holes on the grilles were in the exact same places, the structural changes were that non-existent.

So... what you might want to do is what my friends and I did... Check out a picture of the I35 and determine whether or not you want the front of your car to look like that.

Since there are a lot of I30 owners in this thread...i have one question: Please respond accordingly...!

IS ANYBODY INTERESTED IN AN I30 BODY KIT...CUSTOM MADE OR IMPORTED FROM JAPAN?

Jeff Kuo is currently working on a prototype kit for our cars...and i might be the first to purchase...please let me know if any of you are interested...here is a link to the available Japanese body kits:

You're full of...

yourself!

"Citrano says other drivers can't keep their eyes off his car. At night, when Nullsoft's Winamp is playing MP3s and running its funky visualizations, drivers tend to slow down next to him and stare into his car, wondering what's going on in there. Luckily, the car's 275-horsepower engine helps him get away with little difficulty."

Wow, entrancing.
