aluminum dash ki by greg@custommaxima

hi all,

I'm sure you guys have seen the aluminum dash kit that greg @custommaxima is selling. Does anybody have this kit?

I was told that it might look nice from afar but upon closer inspection the pieces don't exactly fit perfectly over the dash. Is this true?

If any of you have purchased the kit from custommaxima and know anything about this, please reply.

Thanks!

if it is still the Joshua Tree brushed alum, yes I used to have it. He was selling the JT kits about a month or so ago, so I don't know if this is the kit.

I had the JT real alum kit and it was O.K., but I wasn't completely satisfied. I took it off and replaced with the woodview molded dash kit.

I'm pretty sure that he isn't selling the Joshua Tree kit. Go check out his site. I think it actually costs more than the jousha tree kit too

I've been doing some checking around...and, most of the overlay kits are pretty lame. They simply stick onto the existing panels here and there. Might as well go buy a roll of brushed aluminum vinyl and do it yourself. Now, the molded kits are pretty nice...becuase they actually cover all the pieces the same as the original. However, they only come in certain colors and/or wood grain synthetics and have a limited number of pieces.

I have this kit....not satisfied...would go as far to say that it looks cheap...

because the sides of the main console arent covered...so you can see little pieces of the black plastic from the center console coming out of the side

I also had some other problems with this kit but thats between me and shadow

What problems are you having? Sorry, it's hard to place a screen name with a person. If you didn't get the side pieces, let me know, I can send those immediately. I know I was in contact with someone who was having problems with a 5th gen kit, but I don't know if it's you or not.

We don't, but I do carry them. They're made by a few other companies, but I sell them. However, you can't get real aluminum in a molded kit. The metal just won't compress like that. The molded kits are pressure molded into the 3D shape, and you can't get metal to bend like that. I can get synthetic aluminum, real wood, real carbon fiber in the 3D molded kits. I'm still finalizing pricing right now.

Cool, so do you have a 3D kit available for a 02? I would be very interested in buying a synthetic aluminum ki if you have one.
