Arg! Lost Idle Pully and Alternator Belt!!

So, I was pulling away from the tool booths right near my house on the NYS Thruway, and I heard a loud clunk. Look down and my battery and parking break light are on.

So, I pull over to find out that the idle pully and alternator/ac belt were gone. I figure the pully let loose and therefor caused the belt to loosen and fall off.

I figure that I didn't have the idle pully tight enough, I can't really think of any other explination. Any ideas?

I limped home (thank god I just put a new battery in) and shut everything down. Hopefully I'll be able to find a new belt and pully quickly out here tomorrow.

In case anyone cares...

I just went out the the thruway to see if I could find the belt and pully that fell off. After two passes I was able to find them, and there still in good shape.

Phew!

Somewhere on the NYS Thruway.

I went to Nissan today (to buy that bolt and washer) and they happened to have the entire idle pully assembly, so I just bought that.

All fixed.

How much did you pay for the entire idler pulley assembly?

Ha ha. It wasn't my UDP, it was the idle pully.

The Williamsville Tools to the Depew exit is about 2 miles, so it wasn't really that big of a deal.

They do, but I would have had to order them and wait a day or two.

$54 bought me all new parts for the idle pully and got me back on the road same day.
