Does this sound like bad service?

my 2k2 max went in last Tuesday for not being able to start--the dealership had me all worried about my stereo system voiding the warranty--i called them about twice a day till Thursday to see if they figured out what was wrong with it--from Thursday afternoon i didn't call them at all b/c the last time i spoke with them on Thurs. they said they would keep me posted--so her i am worrying about my car and warranty and stereo (amongst other things) all weekend--i decide to call them today and they say "oh, no one called you? it was the fuel pump"--considering they knew i was wanting to buy the 100,000 mile warranty, you'd think they would have better service--does this sound like bad service to any of ya'll or am i just being pi$$y?
sorry for the length

nissan gold...

I have Nissan Gold on both the pathfinder and the max, it makes *no* difference in the level of care you get.

Well, do you know when it was done versus today? If they had it done on Thursday or Friday, then I would raise a little hell. But I do not think it will get you anywhere other than allow you to blow off steam. You might get a "free" oil change or something at max. But it never hurts. Your SM might actually have a heart....or not.

Re: Does this sound like bad service?

I think when you blow $25k on a car (or more) that they ought to show a little more interest. Plus, I think a week is a heck of a long time to wait for a fuel pump. Did they give you a loaner car? I so, they sound alright. Otherwise, it sounds like bad service. I dont think *****in anyone out is going to help anything.

Yeah, they *should*, but most car dealers don't care much after you sign. Is it true the more expensive cars they give you better service (BMW, Benz, etc.)?

umm.. yah.. think about it. Buy an infiniti, and the service guys treat you sooo much better. I'm sure if you showed up in a caviler, sunfire, neon, etc. they wouldn't care much about you. Reason 1) they know you're not going to buy an expensive car from you in the future, 2) if you really cared about your car, you wouldn't be driving a small pos 3) we have maximas, not small pos's, but not super luxo either.

I've been lucky. So far my dealer has repaired my car without question and has given me a free rental. I didn't purchase an extended warranty either. On a few occasions I came early and waited for my repairs, which they did quickly. And my TCM repair, they gave me the free rental for 2 days. They've been courteous as well. I haven't had anything stolen either, unlike someone else here. I guess my Jedi action is working. <<<you will repair my car for free>>>

I would say it depends at every dealership. There are numerous factors that go into bad service - 1)guy or gal helping you and their opinion of you 2) how the guy or gal is feeling that day 3) the managements goals and how they translate to how the service reps operate 4) most importantly - how you treat them. 5) how the guy or gal feels about the way you treat them.

I've had nothing but good service - haven't had to take the max in though - with my dealership when I took my 93 Altima in. But then again, I was normally patient, understanding, and appreciative of them fixing my car.

Do not raise hell

if you plan on going back. Yeah you are right, they screwed you, make the service manager aware of it, but politley, it will pay off in the long run.

BTW I had an Infiniti before my Max and damn straight they treated you like gold: service loaner, rides, free wash, vacuumn, and tire dressing everytime you had your ride in there for service. They made the mistake of giving me free oil changes for the first 24 months or 36,000 miles, I had my **** in there all the time getting oil changes, just to get my ride cleaned, it was money.

not too happy either

I had a problem while doing my spring install which was I stupidly stripped the bolt on my rear shock. I had a friend who had a shop to fix it but needed a new bolt. I went to nissan and of course they didnt have it in stock (neither did 2 other nissan dealerships) which was understandable. I paid an extra $5 for over night shipping and when I went in the next day to pick it up they didnt have it, the fat a$$ behind the counter forgot to order it!!I had to wait 3 days for a bolt to fix my car! I expressed anger and disapointment and wasnt offered a free oil change and not even an appology! Im 23 but look even younger. Im pretty sure if I was an old fart they would have kissed my a$$.

haha.... I know what you mean. I have no doubt that service managers treat younger people differently. I am 24 and I have had stuff like that happen to me also....

As an old fart, I can relate to the "better" treatment they offer to someone willing to be diplomatic, yet firm, a trait which comes, presumably, with "maturity". I actually think my gray and thinning hair and look-em-square-in-the-eye attitude (with a smile on my face, of course) DO help, particularly because the service guys are not any older than me (I'm about to turn 54!!!), and because I seem to know at least as much as they do about the car, so we can have an intelligent conversation. {BTW, most of what I know about the car I learned right here and at 5thGen}...

...as for the "maturity", I must really be a kid, or I would be driving a stock, basic Camry with no mods at all
