2K2 Alarm Fix INSTALLED and WORKS Great!

Well After ICE, 2MaxGuy, and I been going buck wild on this freagin alarm fix. I decided to do it myself and do a slightly different version of what ICE and 2MaxGuy came up with.

First off let me explain what ICE and 2MaxGuy came up with, they were going to cut the relay trigger going to each headlamp relay (which is a PINK wire by the way). And then using a relay tap into the running light wire to activate the lights when the lights are turned on. I dont know how to fully explain the relay setup as it would be much easier to draw out, but they would now still use the pink wire they cut off but install a relay in the middle and use the running light power to power the relay, so TECHINCALLY when the alarm goes off, it DOES NOT blink the running lights, so the PINK wire can attempt to blink all it wants, it will never BLINK the XENONS.

BUT THE PROBLEM with that setup i noticed is that if you turn your running lights on, your XENONS turn on also, works fine, but if you are like me and want to keep the car original, and want the running light switch spot to be a running lights only, then this wont work.

ALL I did to solve this problem, is instead of tapping the running light power wire, I tapped a IGNITION Switched WIRE, which basically means when the ignition is in the ON position, then and then the headlights will turn on. So technically same relay setup except different power source for the relay. I actually TAPPED the RED/Gray wire off the O2 sensor I believe that is what it is.

So now my joint is working great and FINALLY the damn thing is fixed. Just got my headlight clips from DaveB and need to install them puppies now.

All tired now.

Great job on fixing the alarm problem. One request that I (and I'm sure others like me who are not electricians) have, is that you do a detailed write-up of the fix. When you mention things like "the RED/Gray wire off the O2 sensor" or "IGNITION Switched WIRE", most of us have no idea where to locate that particular wire or how to get to it under the hood. If you have the time or inclination, could you post some pictures or diagrams with these wires labelled? I know it's not your job to educate us, but you stirred the pot, now we need the chef to teach us to cook.

No problem, I will ATTEMPT to make a write up for you non-technical people.

I will take pictures and stuff tommorow and make the write-up. I would have taken them during the install but did not have the camera.

I have to install the clips tommorow anyways.

What kind of camera do you use? If it's a Sony that will use memory sticks, I'll mail you a 32MB stick you can snap some pictures with .

Yeah I do use a Sony Mavica. You want me to take pictures on the memory stick and then mail it back to you? Is that too time consuming and what not? Better easier if I just post them online, very small images. No more than 30-60k each.

Once I get the writeup done, for those of you that have no clue what or how to do it, it will take no more than 30mins TOPS!.

Wow you guys truely are amazing. I'm driving home today and I'd like to try to get them on (without relay's for now). BTW if I go with your install the HID's turn off the high beams? (the non-relay setup). Is there an easy way to change this? On your site it says they work, but then on posts I heard they don't stay on with the high's. I'm sorry for my electrical ignorance, just don't want to mess anything up.

No Keh Mon, I changed it. Look again in the writeup. All I did is change one wire, instead of taking the ground from the H4 plug for the Xenons, I took the ground straight to the body. No more Xenons turning off with the High beams anymore.

Very Simply. The Writeup has the change already.

My bad. I think I get a little too carried away with my lazyness sometimes.
