93' rpm's dropping out when stopping
93' rpm's dropping out when stopping
Can anyone tell me if you have had this happen or know a solution? The rpm's drop out to about 200 rpms and almost choke out when you put the clutch in and begin slowing down to a stop. I have replaced the tps sensor and the throttle body cleaned. The strange thing is that it does not drop out every time. Any suggestions?
Have you cleaned the idle up controller (AAC valve) as part of your throttle body cleaning? If not, it maybe dirty causing the car not to adjust the idle properly when load goes on (such as aircon etc) when you back off the revs.

can you tell me where this is and what I need to do to clean it? I would appreciate it. I am fairly familiar with the engine compartment, but have not worked with the aac valve any. Thanks.

I have heard of others spraying into the intake hoses, but I prefer the complete disassemble process myself.
Hope this helps,
Brent.
Are those directions talking about the VG or the VE? I am intersted in cleaning mine. I have a VG. Thanks

OK, standing at the front of your car on your intake to the centre right you have the part of the intake where the idle adjustment screw is. There should be some rubber / plastic hoses coming into it also. It looks like a metal box, square in shape. Diassemble this by removing the hoses and screw etc. Be careful in disassembling as per normal. I cleaned mine out with a clean rag, didn't use any chemicals or sprays although you could do it that way. Then reassemble.

hi
Since I first bought my car, I always used 93 or 94 octane gas. Last summer when the price of gas raised up, I switched to regular 87 octane. The car did not like this one bit. When I was at a stop light, I had to put it into neutral to keep it going. When I finished that tank of gas, I went a got some 93 octane again and the problem went away.
You should check your air filter, fuel filter, spark plug wires, check your spark plugs and see if they're fowled up.
Good luck!

Re: hi
It was just tuned about 30k miles ago, I have had the fuel filter replaced, have a K&N filter that has just been cleaned and basically do not know what else it could be unless it is the aac valve messed up. It is odd, it acts like a vacuum leak because it doesn't do it when idling or acceleration, but only when you are applying the brakes and coming to a stop with the clutch pedal in. Once you completely stop, it does alright. And to make things harder to understand, it does not do it every time you stop.
