2007 Maxima Sirius Radio Stuck on "ACQUIRING"

Hey everyone. I have a 2007 Maxima with just over 5,000 miles on it. Had the Sirius radio receiver installed by the dealer when I leased the car. Everything has been working great until yesterday. I went to try to listen to my Sirius by hitting the "SAT" button, and the display on the screen is stuck on ACQUIRING. It doesn't let me select any channels, and in SAT mode, nothing comes out the speakers. My subscription is paid for until 7/2008, so that's not an issue. I have clear line-of-sight, so there is nothing blocking the antenna.

I just took the inside truck cover off so I could get to the receiver itself. I unplugged the antenna for a second, just to see what the display inside the car reported. The display instead of reading "ACQUIRING" read "ANTENNA". So, at least the correct error message is being reported. Plugged it back in, and then the display read "ACQUIRING", and that's it.

Any ideas on what I could do? She's do for an oil change in 800 miles or so, so I'll mention it to them when I make that appointment, but I was just wondering if there was anything else I could do on my end to troubleshoot and/or possibly get it working? Almost sounds to me like a bum receiver, but I don't want to make that call since I'm not that good with this stuff.

Any ideas? Thanks!
Jeff

Take it back and tell them to fix it.

That's what I plan on doing. However, as I said above, if there is something that I can do on my end - BASED ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF PEOPLE HERE - then I'll try that. And as I said, in 800 miles I'm due for an oil change, so they'll fix it then. UNTIL then, is there anything *I* can do?

Start your car, put it on chn 184, run to your computer, have it "refresh" your radio.

I think it's 184, it'll tell you on the Sirius website.

I wish I could do that. It doesn't tell me what channel I'm on, and when I turn the dial, it doesn't display any channels at all. It just constantly says "Acquiring".

Call Sirius and they will send you a signal and "reboot" you.

I had something like that happen on my aftermarket receiver and did what missjane said. Called Sirius and they sent a "reboot" signal. Took just a few minutes.

Nope, didn't work. I got a rep on the phone that said they can resend the signal to the radio, but it has to at least get to a preview channel and "past" the ACQUIRING stage. The rep said it looks like it's a problem with the antenna, or possibly the receiver, but he wasn't positive.

Looks like it's a call to Nissan. Grr, 5,000 miles on the car and I have to go back already. Annoying---at least it's not something mechanical, I can live w/o the Sirius for a few weeks.
