Problems with alternator or battery

hey guys...
i'm not sure if somebody has posted something about this already but i'm in a real big rush and i dont have time to search through the forums...but this summer i put on a Unorthodox UDP on my 97 max. I had some trouble with it and brought it in to Unorthodox. They removed it and found that the pulley was faulty, and they gave (and installed) a new pulley for me, but I feel like they were not so confident in changing the pulley (it took about almost 2.5 hours for them to do).

Anyway, I haven't had any problems with it up until recently, when I am having alot of charging problems. I have a fairly new yellow top in my car, so I don't think its the battery. I am going to run up to Autozone tomorrow to have them place the battery/alternator tester on the car...but I was wondering, can the tensioning of a belt mess up/ruin an alternator? I'm thinking that maybe because Unorthodox did not have the right tools they may have over/under tightened one of the belts in turn leading to death of my alternator. As of now, I don't have any squeaking like you would have with a loose belt, by I don't really know what to do and don't have money or time to replace my alt...anybody have any suggestions? And can the wrong tensioning of the belt mess up the alternator?

I dont know if it can mess up the alternator, but a loose belt may cause you to lose your battery's charge. You can feel the belt with your hand, and you should be able to tell if its excessively loose or not.

Good luck!

alright....so i went to the battery experts and they said alternator was giving good charge of about 13.7 volts, and battery had bout 750 cold crank amps. I charged the battery last night, so i know it doesnt need a charge, but i'm still having starting trouble...like its turning over very very slow (almost like a dead battery would sound), but then kicks. While its running, the car is perfect, its just at startup. what do u think?

Make sure your grounds from the negative of the battery to the body are nice and snug.

Also make sure your terminals are snug and clean as well.

yeah i'm starting to think its the starter. all my connections are on there nice and tight, i'm going to have to look through the forums to see how hard it is to replace the starter....supposedly its not too hard...all easily reachable under the hood.
