99 ECU, Manual & Automatic the same?
99 ECU, Manual & Automatic the same?
So I went to start my car this morning, and it cranks but it won't turn on... it doesn't sound like a battery/alternator issue... so I get it towed to a place down the street, and they're telling me that the crank position sensor is working but the injectors aren't getting a signal from the ECU. They took out the ECU and told me that they're also not getting a signal from it to the injectors... anyway, my question is - are all 99 ECUS the same, Automatic and Manual? I have a Manual...
And has anyone ever had a similar problem to this? I'm going nuts!
Also.... does having traction control, or FED vs Cali spec change it completely?
----
My car is:
1. MANUAL
2. Cali-Spec
3. No TC [Hence the manual]

the auto and manual ecu i believe are different. One thing i would be concern about is the 98-99 have chip in the key and would be curious by swapping the ecu if you would have to re-do the ignition key.

If you are not getting a signal to the injectors on a 99 model Max, then it is very likely that you have issues with the immobilizer system.
This is precisely how the car is disabled when the system is working properly, that is, sensing a wrong or unchipped key in the ignition switch.
This is a dealer or big town locksmith fix.

Wow, I actually was playing with that today... but how can I go around that? Is there a way to bypass it or something? When I first turned the car on, it sounded like it was getting gas, but then decided not to start up, and didn't get any gas from that point on....
PLEASE let me know if there's a way around it.

this bites because i don't want to spend the money on an ECU if that's not even where the problem lies...
My car key lost its code all of a sudden. It would crank but not start. I used my spare key and it started fine. So I had a friend at nissan and they reprogrammed the key for free and it all worked fine then.
phew...
I'm sooooo relieved. I had the car towed to Nissan today...
They recommended that I get the newer upgraded ECU (1700!)
But I told em to chance programming me a new key... and it worked... so I'm using my old key as a back up

If not, then it will not work anymore. The reprogram erases all previous keys. Must do all keys at the same time.
Of course it will still open the door, it just won't start the engine.
