Wiper linkage

Well I messed up today and raised the hood while my wipers were lifted off the windshield. As a result the linkage arm that drives the wipers from the wiper motor came off the pivot located at the first wiper.

My question is whether I can simply reattach this to the pivot point without too much hassle or do I have to get replacement parts and reinstall the entire assembly. So far I've removed the wiper arms and the cowling.

Any help is appreciated, I have the service manual and Hanes manual for my '89 Maxima but this item is not covered in either of them....

heh... i went through this. most likely the end of the link that attaches to the passenger arm is extremely worn and won't reattach. Go to your dealer and just ask them for the wiper link. You just need the piece that attaches to the motor on one end and the wiper arm on the other. the part isn't too expensive but is a b*tch to put on....

good luck
