need input (no pun intended)

my batt. was totally dead yesterday and when i tried to jump it i heard a sound from the abs actuator. (the dash light had been coming on and off for a few weeks) i couldn't get the car to jump start. i found a thread that mentioned the abs actuator trying to pump after the car is turned off and killing the battery so i disconnected the abs and tried to jump start again. this time it did start but turned off right after taking off the jumper cables. i tired again and checked voltage at battery after restarting and instead of 14v i was getting 12v. i took off the cables and the car ran for 30 sec. and cut off again. so i replaced the alternator today and got the battery recharged and just tried to start the car and got no dash lights but a very faint battery light and no start. so i checked the fuses and found the main 100A fuse next the the positive terminal on the battery was blown. what the hell? need some advice.

Chances are you blew the big fuse when you jump started the car,or your faulty alternator blew the fuse<--(this has happened to me before so just replace the fusible link and you should be fine.

Oh btw,i recommend you get it at the dealership, they are about $8 iirc.

the fuse is different than the ones around it in terms of how it is removed. i couldn't find how it is hooked in. nothing it press or pry out. do you just yank it? i pulled really hard and it didn't move

You have to remove the bottom part of the fusebox, then remove a 10mm screw to get the old fusible link out..

I think i snapped some pics of this procedure, but they are on my other pc..I'll check.

dont bother that is more than enough help. isn't it very unusual to blow such a large fuse? i was worried that i have a short or something with the new alt. so i guess i should get two fuses in case i blow the next one.
by the way i have been to crossvul (as they way down there) i went to mtsu and we played someone in soccer there one time
