Is there a best brand of starter?

I apologize if this has been brought up a lot before but i did my searching on the org and google. Is there a best brand of starter. I realize the cheapest are going to be rebuilt. I found these brands: NSA, Bosch, and Duralast. I'm looking for best performance and best price. I appreciate any help.

Just thought i'd bump this thread up in case somebody had any views on getting an aftermarket starter. Today i called Nissan and they wanted $419+tx for a new unit so i'm definately not going to go with that route.

There are also not many junkyards around here and i'm located in Canada.

For the best high output alternators contact http://www.mechman.com/alt.htm

I bought one and it keeps my system charged in the 3.5-3.8 range.

You must be careful of their pully sizes, I went with my stock pulley and in hot weather while at a with the ac going I switch to neutral to keep voltage up. If I was non-aspirated I wouldn't worry about this because the supercharger belt isn't there to slip off.

I'm running an autozone brand. It failed on me not once but twice already. Good thing they have warranty. Took it back and gave me a new one.

Autozone Duralast starters are remanufactured OEM. I purchased one because the warranty is good and it's an easy part to replace so if I have to do it again, maybe 1/2 hour tops to save a few hundred bucks. Fair tradeoff if you ask me.

I agree!I would go with a autozone duralast one too. If you decide to have someone rebuild your starter for you make sure they do a good job and know what there doing. The place I took mine too Ripped me off.

Is this thread asking about starters or alternators?

My vote goes for the cheapest starter with the longest warranty. In my case, it was AutoZone.

It will bolt up, dont know for sure if the connector is the same, should be, but you probably just splice on your old one if it isnt.
