I've looked around for the stock spring rates, SE vs GXE, and there seems to be confusion about it. Someone said 131 front, 190 rear, and another said 250 lbs front and rear.

This makes no sense. We sent a 93 Mazda 626 to the junkyard recently and it has 190Front spring rates, and around 130 rear. FWD cars have stiffer springs up front, not the other way around.

So does anyone know the REAL SE and GXE spring rates? I only need the FRONT spring rates. Thanks.

OEM GLE/GXE springs (linear) estimated:
Front: 200 lbs/in
Rear: 200 lbs/in

aren't eibachs supposed to be way stiffer than stock? they're like 160-250lbs/in front iirc, i think the rates in that thread are jacked.

 

Someone told me that the difference between SE and GXE/GLE springs is that the rears are stiffer, but the fronts are the same

 

well considering that manual front springs differ from autos i doubt that's entirely true.

what springs are softer that the se springs. I hate my rough driving car. I need something soft and smooth. i have tokico illumnia struts.

i have the illumnia set to 1 all around. I have se manual transmission springs

 

At 1 and it's too stiff? Wow, I wouldn't think it would be with Illumina's and the SE's spring rates. Maybe you should switch to GXE/GLE springs?

 

thats what i'm doing. Fanaticrockford told me that the only difference between the gle and se is the rear springs as far as spring rates go, not manual or auto. So he sent me the gle/gxe auto rear springs. My mechanic is installing it right now. Also i already bought new control arms, tie rods, stabilizer links/bushings and strut bushing. So i hope to feel a difference in the ride quality. I'm doing all this cause i'm putting 20" rims on my car and want the suspension to be right

 

you are NOT going to get a soft and smooth ride if you put 20" rims on.

 

I just don’t get it..

If you don’t care that your car will look bad due to the 4x4 look, then why get 20” wheels?

If you’re buying 20” wheels for looks, then why worry about the ride?

I think you going at this all wrong..

 

Sorry to say this and i know it goes against everything people say on the org. I just replace my, control arms, end links, inner and outer tierods and afterwards had my 20"s put on. I don't really know what it is for sure but my ride is smoother that ever and it's not harsh at all. It was fun to drive. yes it does have a slight 4x4 look i'm thinking about dropping it may be an inch if possible. I still have my h&R springs but I took them off cause it was too harsh.
Anyone please send me a pm if you know of a way for me to drop it a little. I know i've seen maxima's on here with 20"s and still looked nice and slick and did not have a 4x4 look.

 

I have gone by the assumption that the only difference between the models was the rear SE springs were stiffer and the auto front springs were longer.
