so as we all know our cars have 5x114.3 wheel stud configuration, my mom has an audi A6 which has some awesome wheels on it in 5x112 configuration.
shes getting new wheels because one of her current is out of round.

so my question is, if i get her wheels all fixed up, is it somehow possible to get her wheels to fit onto my car. is there a way to convert it?
could i have a part machined to replace where the wheel studs bolt in?


to clarify, im not going to try to put stock audi wheels on my car, they are some sort of absurdly hard to find wheel. theyhave "avant garde" engraved into the wheels on one spoke. ill get pics later.

 

spacer/adapters. don't think you can do a conversion since most nissans are 114.3 or 4/6 lug.

 

short answer: NO

long answer: YES, but you'd spend hundreds of dollars getting some custom hubs machined (this is NOT cheap). Then remember you'd have to get custom rotor hats with the new bolt pattern as well (probably another $500-1000)

To say nothing of issues of whether the offset and hub bore of the Audi wheels is correct for the Nissan (which I suspect it is NOT).

Then spend all that money getting the wheels "fixed up" and what do you have?

Some nifty wheels, but about $2000 less in your pocket.


My advice: use the money to buy some nice lightweight wheels that already fit the car without modification. With all the wheels out there, you should be able to find SOMETHING you like!

The A6 and maxima both have high offsets.

However, the 2.7T and 4.2 A6s only have a medium offset. With the adapter, it might fit, but i really have no solid answer.

 

BTW, Avant Garde wheels are not particularly hard to find from what I can see...although IIRC they run about $500 each.

Personally, I don't see what's so special about them...they're actually kind of boring looking

 

looks like they're an audi specific wheel. even if you can fit em, its still kinda lame imo.

 

i actually really like the look of them because its simple.
also the free part makes them infinitely better than buying nissan specific wheels.

so would you guys trust those adapters?

 

yeah as long as they're a reputable brand, but for spacer/adapters i think you're gonna have to have 15-20mm of offset to play with.

 

Much better wheel options out there that wont stress your wheel bearings.

 

Go with something you don't need to adapt. I think putting on another car brands wheels on another car is just atrocious and should not be done. Go with something that fits your maxima, and looks decent.

 

thats what my concern is. i dont want to snap my studs or something silly.

the reason i want to adapt is these wheels are free + $100 to fix the bent rim.

so for $100 i get wheels i like.

last time i was going to buy wheels for my max it was going to be $650... and i just dont have the money to spend. as much as my car screams for 17s, i cant drop that much cash.
