Just did the LED swap
Just did the LED swap
I just put LEDs in and I am not very happy with the results. I used superbrightleds before and was happy. The white ones hardly gave off any light and was dim and patchy looking. I ordered a set of blue ones too see how they looked. The blue ones are brighter so I kept them in for now. They are not brighter by much though.
we can't read your mind dude.
i felt the rudeness was saying i was wrong about dim spots when I just put them in and was sitting in front of the cluster looking at it.

LEDs won't look good no matter how bright they end up being. I've put them in a 2000 Altima and a 2000 Maxima now. The gauges use reflectors to get the light all the way across the gauge, and the LEDs just don't give out a wide enough beam to make them cover the whole thing. The gas + temp gauges get the best amount of light because the bulbs are almost directly behind them. I would go for a tinted incandescent or try to find the widest beam LED you can find (I always liked superbrightleds.com . But the ones I got there didn't do me much good. I used blue LEDS, I replaced my trip/odometer, brake, CEL, and high beam lights right now. I'm gunna take the cluster out and try the cruise control lights. Though it seems that some lights won't light the LED (ex: OD off, turn signals). It's kinda weird. Hope this helps you out a little.

they were the single wide lens led. The white ones did have a slight purplish tent to them. but as said b 4 they were patchy looking. I was reading some info on superbrightleds and it said it could be caused because the color of the led is more pure but they don't put out as much light as regular bulbs. the blue ones right now are better as far as uniform lighting but still not very good. you can barely see the odometer and the end of the tach, past 4k, is dim too. if i just put regular 194 bulbs with out the green cover would the gauges look yellowish?
Amazing this topic has been in existence since the 3rd gen had resale value.
I've had white, blue, green, unintentional purple... in terms of actual clarity I find white works best. Though I'm digging the 'violet motif' I have now haha. (me daughter's warping me mind. Arrrgh!!!)
If you remove the green condom from the 194 bulbs they might multiply. Just a warning.

Most of dashboard bulbs are just turn and pull. A monkey could do it. All you have to remove is just the face pieces of the dash, which is also something a monkey could do. It's easy, man.
