Cars Jacking point Bent?

So last night/this morning i was attempting to get my passenger side wheel speed sensor out since the code says it was bad and as i was jacking the car up it kept hearing these cracking noises or w/e which sometimes u hear when u jack a car up. THen they got louder so i lowered the car and looked at is and the thin strip u use to jack the car up was bending inwards on it self... WTF? The other ones were fine but this one must be rusted badly or something... SO what do i se for a jacking point to jack up that wheel now? The whole area where ud normally use is messed up. Lemme see if i can get a pic...

Yeah, that lip bends sometimes. I use the floor jack to jack up the car on a spot farther in past that lip, it runs parallel to lip but is wider and thicker. I don't know what it is called or what it's for. I use the floor jack there, though, and then use the jack stands on the lip and let the car down very slowly onto the jack stands. If the lip bends, let it bend, as long as it's not hurting the body of the car, it doesn't really matter.

One thing though, make sure you're putting the jack stands closer to the wheels on the lip than closer to the middle of the car. If the jackstands are too far towards the middle of the car, more weight is put on them and it tends to bend that lip easier.

frame rails. but they only go back half way. after that they are just floor supports. i found this out when I jacked up the back half of it and it bent. Only the part under the front seats has any strength to it. so for the back either jack up the lip, middle of the subframe, or the radius arm bracket. that way you won't have to take the carpet up and use a sledge hammer to pound the floor back into shape.

buy a real jack and stop using the pinch welds. those are only good for 'emergency' jacking if you're stuck on the side of the road with the factory jack.

Those pinch welds on the sides of the car are for scissors jacks or bottle jacks that push straight up, and then only with an adaptor to fit a groove to the pinch weld. If you have a floor jack that swings up through an arc it will put a side force on the pinch weld flange and bend it in the arc direction. Get a floor jack and jack up the front by the pad just behind the center of the bumper or the pad in between the wheels in back (behind the bump out of the gas tank shield in the center). I always jack my car from these, while also using safety supports under these rails, and never have a problem.

i always jack the front of the car up under the control arms, and then put the jackstands on the "framerails"... been doing that for the past 6 years with no problems

I love jacking up the blazer though, just throw the jack wherever the heck i want to on the frame

Dude I normally lift from the front bumper area, under the car below the license plate holder theres a lil bump that sticks out strictly for jacking, use that. And get a rear jack. 100 bucks will get you a 6 piece set at murrays

1-3 ton garage jack
2- jack stants
1-creeper
2- ramps

I know I didnt send you that FSM for nothing

thanks john, but ive found those spots since this thread was first started... i was jacking the red max up yesterday morning to check all the studs and what not, seems only one it broken off and its inside the block...

and back to jacks...i finally had money to spend and i bought a normal hydraulic jack or w/e, those ramps, a timing gun, and that red max came with 2 scissor jacks, which means i now have three....
