Depends.

You can also send your gauges into http://www.importintelligence.com

Yes the needles from importintelligence work on an I30...
here is a pic of mine, that I just finished.
It's easy to instal just give yourself time to do a good job, the parts are fragile. I also have Chrome rings on my gauges and white faces... so thats what it will look like with those. I don't think they will look good with the Indiglo faces unless you go with the red needles.. it's a contrast thing...BTW I kept my stock bulbs for the background lights, but the whole dash turned a light shade of purple... I like it

dammit

It SUCKS that Nissan decided to make the needles for '98 and up opaque instead of clear like the '97 and earlier. Man I want those glowing needles. How can I do this without pulling my needles or changing the gauge cluster?

well you would have to pull the needles off anyhow... just go to the junk yard and get needles off of a 97.

They are universal, therefore, they fit the 5th gen. Which was answered already earlier in this post.

And if you already knew the answer, then why'd you post the question?

Well... if you want to start getting technical, then yes, they will not work with a 98+ Max because the needles are not opaque. The rings will fit into the needle base, but if you don't have an opaque needle, then the needle won't glow.

But they are "universal" in the fact that the rings should fit into needle, the needle just won't glow. You'll just get a glow under the needle base.

But since you need to take the needles off to install the indiglo needles, you could swap them out for some previous model Max needles.

If you have white face gauges... Let me warn you about putting clear or white gauges on your car... you need to take some glass dye, or a sharpie (permanent marker) and color in the bottom of the needle. It is hard to see that little sucka telling you "that you have just exceeded the speed limit in front of that cop". I'll post that it looks like on Sat when I fix mine.
