Who is running a 245/45 tire in the rear?
Who is running a 245/45 tire in the rear?
Are you noticing any rubbing or that it is very easy to scrape the outside edge of the tire on a hard bump? I know the rear struts need to be replaced but the clearance even as it sits seems to be only ~1 inch. Would replacing the rear struts make that much of a difference? Or is the tire just too big in sidewall height?
The tire is a 245/45R18 on 18" 350Z rims (I think 30mm offset in the rear) on a 2001 AE.

Ahh whats the rim size and offset thats all that depends. I run a 245/40/18 with i think 43 offset i'm lowered on just springs and i've had 5 people in the car and no rubbing. I know a buddy that has 265/40/18 in the rear on coilovers and no rubbing. So a little more info would help buddy
Dear Peanuthead,
Thank you for visiting Maxima.org! Your stay here will be longer, more productive and infinitely more enjoyable for all involved if you direct your questions to the appropriate part of The Org!
While your question is, indeed, vaguely related to 5th Gen Maximas, it more specifically relates to Wheels and Tires (see link below). You are likely to get better, more specific help there.

Details are updated in the first post.
soonerfan, thank you for the recommendation. I believe that this has a lot to do with the suspension travel on a 5th Gen. Maxima and not the tire size or aspect ratio of the tire. I did do a brief search and while I found people running this tire size there was no one saying that they had a rubbing issue. Hence, why my question above is directed to the rubbing of the tire and not to whom is running that size tire.

. its not the 1/4 panel thats rubbing its the piece where the bumper and the 1/4 meets. Right at the edge.
