Creame Colored Maxima Owners

I have a 91 Nissan Maxima SE Creame(pearl)

Hey I'm getting my Maxima painted and I'm doing it myself at a friends body shop here in So. Cal...so I was looking for the paint code and all I see a sticker when I open the door on the driver side thats a 4 digit number, I look through the PPG Paint color code catalog and I don't see anything like it. I'm confused here...BTW next time I go to the shop(where I keep the Maxima at) I'll be sure to take pics of the progress...it's all gutted exterior and I'm painting the Door Jams, so the interior is taken apart too...

So if you guys with Creame(with the white pearl) colored Maximas can check for me that'll be great, becasue the sticker is half readable...

Also: I have plans to tint the rear lights as well as tint the corner lights, I'll have the back housing head lights on there.

If you check the General Maintenance stickies, you'll find that the paint code for 89-94 Pebble Beige is CG2. I think this is the color you are looking for.

Double check stickie #17 for the correct color... I assumed CG2 but CHO may be the match.

Hey, so I wanted to put a different pearl in the paint, there is a white one already in there, but i wanted to stand out a bit more. So I decided to shave the molding off and change the pearl, I was thinking of a Blue pearl...what do you guys think?

You want it to stand out so I'm assuming you plan on going with a lighter blue?
I personally would vouch for a darker blue, something equivalent to the green that you find on 3rd gens.

blue pearl? that will need a repaint of the entire car..otherwise it might look a little weird.

CH0 is a tri stage paint...keep that in mind.

remember...the pearl coat is a translucent clear that goes on before the actual clear.

it's not going to change the color but change how the color reflects/reacts to light.

I'm aware, [not claiming to know anything about painting though] I was just saying that it sounds like he wants to paint the car a lighter shade of blue [I'm totally guessing] and that wouldn't quite be my bag, but a nice dark blue pearl would be pretty sweet.

I want to keep the creame white color, but the paint has a pearl by itself in it, it's white and I was thinking of substituting that white with a blue. I know it's a tristage paint...and the base coat is going to stay the same, but the top coat is going to have the blue pearl in it. then on top of that is the standard clear coat. I don't want to change the entire car color or else when you open the hood it's going to look funny, and also I AM painting the entire car. I want to paint the roof it's elf jet black with nothing in it, but I can't seem to figure that one out b/c at the rear quarter panel meets the roof in one panel and I don't want a line of black so I said forget it unless someone sees another way of doing it?

blend white and black like this WWWWWWBWBBBBBBBB except vertical, not horizontal like it's typed.
see, like they have a small strip of overlap, make it a quarter-to-half inch. You can do it by using tape, and then a small strip of pinstripe one pinstripe-width above the tape.

the base coat is white.
the pearl coat is that pearl/tan/oatmeal color. spraying the pearl coat is what gives it the pearl look. if you want to mix in blue pearl then that's fine..but it's going to look off if you don't spray that on the entire car.
it's like a silver car that have that mis matched paint look.

but it's your car...do what you want.

If you have not painted a car before you can't understand how important it is to paint the whole car, It just won't look right. Like DanNY said its like a silver car that has miss matched paint. If you were just painting it the same color you could blend it in but since you want to changer the color you need to paint the whole car. Trust me I work at a body shop I paint cars and have seen first hand what a car looks like if you cut corners when it comes to the paint and body work. The finished product is never good.

I think he is painting the entire car...

what he means by not changing the entire car color is keeping it white, so he doesn't have to worry about the engine bay looking funny et cetera

I see I must of miss understood him. I just did not want to see him do something
he would be unhappy with.

right he's not changing the base color but he wants to add a blue pearl in the paint. i assume he's going to paint the ENTIRE exterior car w/ this blue pearl right?

YES...I'm painting the entire car...I'm going to spray the base coat...as usual, then the top coat, but here since there is a white pearl, I'll subsitute it with a blue pearl, then spray that, then spray a final clear over that. then the car will get wet sanded, buffed and waxed. I work a a body shop too, and I got the stillen kit and took a good look at it, does anybody have pics of how they installed it? Where they riveted and screwed it?
