I reciently got rear ended and the factory muffler needed to be replaced. I happen to find 2 14815 Magnaflow mufflers that were on someones car for literally 3 days, then taken off because they were to loud. I payed 130 for the 2, good deal I thought. Anyways I am planing on installing them this weekend and had a few questions/worries. I am not going to run any lager piping then nessacary I figured that I could connect piping from the muffler to the Y pipe and that would be it. Will I run into any problems? Also do any of you guys know how it will sound. To loud?, thats what I am most worried about.

 

$130 for two!? You pretty much bought one and got the second one for free!

These mufflers are a weld-on IIRC...that's the only "problem" that you will run into.

On sound...if the other guy sold it due to it being too loud, then that should maybe give you an idea?

 

yeah but he has a twin turbo chargered grandprix or something along those lines with all his piping larger. and what is IIRC?

If you are using your stock resonator it shouldnt be too bad.

 

Somone mentioned it has a simaler noise as an fx? if I put a CAI in would it effect the noise and how?

 

Even with a stock resonator it will add A LOT of sound.

Mufflers are the biggest sound gainers possible. I was just discussing this with NmexMAX and if you want power but a quiet sound, then do everything EXCEPT the mufflers.

Although, I think that by adding everything else while keeping stock mufflers will still stay relatively quiet and still add more power than just having headers.

CAI will only effect the motor noise and that's only when you go WOT. There will be a fierce sucking sound at about 3,000+ and then a sound at about 5,000+

 

I have the 14816's and they sound mean! At first I did take off the resonator and a month later went back and put it on again cause they are pretty loud with it off.

So just keep your resonator on. Once you hear them, you will love the sound!!

 

Its not only the muffler that cancels out the noise. Its definitelly the resonator too. I recently installed two 14807s and the sound is not loud but bery deep and mellow.

I paid $99 each on ebay which I though was a good deal. My brother paid $114 each which certainly was a good deal as well.

 

DO NOT REMOVE STOCK RESONATOR.... (Unless you're going aftermarket)

I can't stress that enough.


Without it I could'nt hear myself in the cabin. Plus it can't be "re-attached." I ended up turning right around and bought a smaller Magnaflow res.

I love the sound, like Xoomer said deep and mellow. Especially with a Fujita on top.

 

I ran just the mufflers with everything else stock for a long time, sounded very clean and not too loud...as sadi very FX style.
