How to fix a ding/dent?

I have a few dings on my rear driver side door they are about the size of a nickel. If I take off the door panel and get at them from the back do you think I would be able to tap them out. With maybe like a small block of wood then hit the wood with a hammer? Has anyone removed dings and dents themself without using the drilling method? Let me know guys because I hate looking at these damn things.

Would that really work? Is it safe on an aftermarket paint job?

Go to a PDR place, look in your local yellow pages or look on line.
They run between 100 - 125 / pannel.

Get it repaired at dent busters or one of those types of repair shops. Shop around for price. If the shop is in a busy area (many car dealers around) they seem to charge more. Guess they can afford to have customers leave. A slow shop can usually do it right away and needs your business more. I had one place quote $250 and another one in a different part of town quote half that.
