Power steering pump interchangabilty

Question. Will a power steering pump from a third gen vg fit a second gen vg ? Without any mods of course.

the seal rebuilt kit for the 87-88 models is the same as the one for the 89-91 models, but the part numbers for the pump itself is different.

My bet would be no, they're not interchangeable.
