Rear passenger-side illumina --> weird noise
Rear passenger-side illumina --> weird noise
Just installed progress springs and illuminas all around. I have them set to 3f/4r, and had a loaded down trunk for my trip. I'm hearing a strange sound when I go over a "dip" that causes the rear end to compress. The sound is hard to describe, but it sounds like metal scraping metal. Almost a squeaking sound. Only happens when the shocks compress, and only one of them is making noise. It even happened once when I went over a speed bump. What are the culprits? Should I turn up the rear stiffness to prevent it?

What's the torque like on the top hat nut? Do you have the isolators between the upper mount and the body? What were your bushings like?
Lot's of questions but barring strut defect that will route to your problem. Check the free/cheapest items first.

+1 on the nut and isolator. re-install it and see if the problem persists.
