People have suggested using Simple Green to clean the engine. About covering up the exposed wires, how do I do it? What about some wires that cannot be reached? And what about the alternator, do I need to cover up that as well? I wish there is a more simple way to clean the engine.
Engine Cleaning
I just put a empty honey nut chereo bag over my intake and then just hosed down the area and then applied simple green and then hosed it off. Then I took the bag off the Intake and ran my car for 10 minutes to make sure every thing dried off.
if i was you i would never spray down the engine with a hose or power washer. I will send you a pic of what my engine looks like and tell me what you think! All i used was some palmolive and a srubby spong for the majority of the engine, then use MOTHERS aluminum polish and polished the $hit out of the engine. then i wet-sanded the head to make it look like a mirror. 3 steps 400grit,600 grit,1500grit, then re apply some more polish to finish it up. that will give you a sshow quality look!!

So, it's not necessary to cover up the wires? I rather just spray Simple Green all over the engine bay, and then hose it down.

Hm...I think spraying SG onto a towel is a better idea. That way I don't need to cover up all the wires; too much hassle. If I use towel with SG, should I finish the whole engine compartment first, then use a wetted towel to wipe of the residue of the SG? Or do one section, then use a wetted towel to wipe of the residue? Thanks.
