Dood said there is a new CA state smog law on 95 and older vehicles. those cars require a fuel tank evap test. something about putting nitrogen int he gas tank having it test for leaks. cost and extra 25 bucks and he said he could not smog the car without doing this test also. did i get rippe off. oh, i failed because of NO ont he regular smog test.

Your regional forum would've been best to ask about the CA smog laws, or even better, google?

Or from California themselves...
The Smog Check program is designed to reduce emissions from mobile sources in California.
These mobile source emissions include hydrocarbon vapors escaping from automotive fuel tanks
and fuel evaporative systems. Consequently, the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) needs a
device capable of pressure-testing fuel evaporative systems as a component of the Smog Check
inspection in approximately 8,500 Smog Check inspection stations on all 1995 and older model
year vehicles.
