Engine really loud at 6K-6.5K

I kinda hate this, but I don't know what can be done about it, Now my intake is rather loud but my Engine at that K happens to get louder then that and my Exhaust Combined. And my dash kinda viberates. So anyone have this problem? Or is this something that just happens? Its 5-speed and I have raced it many times but it seems like this winter it is a lot louder.

I do put the pedal to the metal though... In 1st and 3rd it is this loud at 6K. Makes me wanna just get anothe exhaust other then my stupid Magna-soft.

this pretty much sums it up. When i changed my USIM out for a MEVI on my 97 it totally toned down the topend although it still made that gruff noise just later in the rpm band like 6800+. Im sure the 00vi absorbs alot of that sound but still lets the deep growl roar!

It does not get much louder than this...

Stillen Hi-Flow Cone Intake, Stock Resonator, and a Y pipe. Sounds super-quiet to me The 00vi has toned it down amazingly, such a more refined sound. I should have another video up soon with the 00vi.

I'd bet that mine is quieter than 90% of the cars on here @ that RPM.

Are you serious???? Thats like saying, "Dude i just ran six miles, and now i am out of breath". You should not be driving with the rpms up that high anyways. Unless you are trying to see if you can blow it up, then in that case, go for it.

Haha, I was merging onto the highway. And the reason why you don't see me passing cars is because I don't believe in driving at high speeds though traffic. I hit triple digits more than three different times throughout that video. It is not worth the risk to speed excessively while traffic is around.

lol, obviously. i garuntee 90% of all cars with an aftermarket intake and an exhaust system will sound louder at high rpms, and especially in COLD WEATHER when the air is more dense. u dont want a loud car go back to stock, or stop going so high up in rpms. dash might vibrate cus its loosing traction

lol you gotta understand. I am not worrying about a loud car I want it loud. I just don't want the Engine being louder then my Exhaust.

Then put your stock intake back on, listen to your exhaust, and regain HP/TQ while you're at it.

You are talking maybe +/- 5 hp. I don't think it really matters all that much.

The volume past 6k RPM is the sound of your IM choking your engine due to the pulse waves in the manifold being completely out of phase with the intake valve opening. Hence the lack of top-end power.

He is referring to acoustical thrashiness, which can be remedied.

Is it really strictly acoustical? I can't imagine the engine is running sweetly if pressure waves are crashing into each other in the intake manifold...

Nice video... Wait, was his check engine light on? JK

My stillen exhaust makes my entire cabin resonate at around 3000RPM.
