Rattling noise coming from my front right driveside wheel
Initially I thought it was my axle...I've had 2 people check it out, and tell me my axle is fine and they can't hear the noise I hear. That's the catch, the noise is intermittant, and I hear it mostly when accelerating in turns. Any idea what it could be, the sound is starting to become more persistent.
I have the same problem, i hear it randomly, and it almost sounds like it's inside the cab. Gets worse around 50-70mph on mildly bumpy roads... so you think it could be strut mounts? i was told cv, but it's not a 'clicking' noise.. it's a clank.......clank..
I had that exact same problem for years until I lowered my car. I believe mine was in the strut. I had both cv's and axles replaced but still the thud thud sound. Look at your suspension for the problem if you don't think it's the axles.
I had recenly changed my axles (used non-oem parts & a private garage) when I started getting the rattle too. I though timing chain tensioner, bad installation, struts, etc and it also went to the dealer twice for a look over. It drove me crazy.
I finally decided to crawl up under it and stay there till I found it ...and I did. A rubber mallet tapping on everything was the key to hearing it while under the car.
On the passenger side drive axle, there was a dust collar on the tranny side of that axle that had come free from its cheap spot welds. This collar was spinning aroud the axle and when I hit bumps at speed, it would wobble around the axle and rattle. A little RTV on the face of it, and all was right with the world again... There may be a similar setup on the driver's side axle. Might be worth a look.
