Where and how did you mount the ballasts??(picture possible?)

Does the hook up require a direct connection to the battery?

Do they make a kit for the 2000 I30 (9006 bulb)

Nope, not necessary to plug into battery for my kit at least. Ask 97GLES (on this forum) about 9006 kits, I believe he sells those as well. Not sure though. I just took a few pix of the ballast mounting. I didn't mount them very well, just zip tied them, I'll update the review tonight or tomorrow with additional pix. diesel9119 said that he double-sided taped them to something, although he didn't specify exactly where. One of my ballast zip ties is very secure, the other isn't so right now, because I didn't have long enough zip tie basically.

After reading this, I definitely am ready to put some on my car. My vision ain't what it used to be at night and I just blew another bulb this evening. For the money I will spend on bulbs, I might as well get HID's.

I took a nice spin on the freeway tonight. Oh man, was it sweet. I hope I can capture what it looks like on my digicam, but this has been the biggest difference so far, on the highway. For a few miles, I believe the land marker reflectors were new. You should see the highway with HIDs and these reflectors! It was amazing! Each lane was illuminated, sort of like an airfield, everyone with their own personal well lit white lane. I think people around you are happy to have you around. It was really cool.

Whoever put the kit together simply used an Osram ballast unit. From one "lighting freak" to another, what are you doing about your lack of highbeams?

 

i did not read the full write up and excuse my ignorance if you covered this issue..

but are they re-aimed? and if so how did you do this? and are they blinding to people ahead of you?

reason is.. i have always wanted HID's but after driving infront of Medic (no offence bro) i just can't imagine doing that to other drivers..

 

His lights are beautiful though. I am gonna get some this month.

 

Albertt: I don't really ever use high beams, except to flash others, so I really don't miss it all that much. In the mountains, I'm sure these HIDs will be enough in place of highbeams on my old PIAAs.

SprintMax: I haven't been flashed yet, but I've only driven about an hour or so with them on. I believe you use the long screw with a black plastic end piece to adjust the headlights. I don't think they are blinding to the people ahead of me, I'll check tonight and ask someone to drive in front of me to see.

 

can you show a pic from behind the steering wheel at night. Or two Max's(one of the being yours) side by side from behind the steering wheel?

Yeah, replacement HID kits kill my eyes when I'm around them, especially 9004. Wish there was some way to get a different bulb and reflector assembly in our cars without going custom.

 

thats a great write up on the hid kits. as for the aiming all the 3rd & 4th gen maximas that i have done in front of the store have been left on factory setting.
