puzzled...

Went to the track today and did pretty well, i pulled what i was expecting once but didn't really come close the rest of the day. So i need your guys help with analyzing my numbers from good to bad...

My Best:
rt .171
60' 2.176
330 6.076
1/8 9.352
mph 74.90
1000 12.178
1/4 14.606 @ 89.18 (missed shift to 4th at end of track)

My avarage:
rt .042
60' 2.263
330 6.306
1/8 9.640
mph 73.66
1000 12.501
1/4 14.915 @ 94.09

Any help on why i couldn't replicate my best run would be helpful.

Thanks,
Alex

No, my best run was like my 4th or 5th run of the day out of 7 runs.

It basically went high -> low -> spike up to high again

Umm i wasn't spraying yesterday so there is nothing time wise to worry about. My best time NA improved like .35 from last year.

And i tried from both sides and still got the same results. i dunno what was wrong...

looks like you got better traction in the 1st 330ft. did you change anything, burnout, tire psi, shifts etc. it my sound funny but was there a really fast car that went before you on your fastest run, the reason I say this cause the track crew normally will do alot better job prepping for those guys then slower cars and add all the extra sticky rubber they leave from doing John Force burnouts

something happened between the 60' and 330' marks. maybe extra wheelspin into 2nd gear, or bogging into 2nd gear, or maybe a bad 1-2 shift.

ahh it makes sense i guess, must've just hooked up real well once. Would doing a longer burnout on the DRs help you think? i've been doing about a 2 or 3 second burnout last time out.

BFG gforce T/A Drag Radial

Also when shifting to second i was chirping my DRs, would that mean they are a little cold?

I do not know alot about these tires but a 3-4sec burnout does not sound long enough. try doing a burnout till you start seeing the smoke then slowly let the car pull out of the box with it still spinning. some tires like alittle longer burnout but I would start with this and take notes after every pass so you can comapre what worked and what did not. And make sure you are staging into the groove.

also what tire size and psi are you running

this is a old vid of me doing what I consider a short burnout cause I was on street tire's and needed to get the water off from the box

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ylxyJu1LLJY

and here is a vid of dandymax does the type of burnout I am talking about

A 2.1 60'ft. will get you better et's than a 2.2 all day. Check and adjust your tire pressure before each run. When make a pass your tire pressure increases thus causeing differences in your 60'ft. 60 ft. times are key! Write your tire pressure down on your timeslip after each pass until you find your sweet spot. It's not what you do in hole, It's how you get out of the hole!

my guess would be the track. given the two timeslips your car was running the same but like some of the guys mentioned a little wheel spin out there early on appeared to be holding you back.

ive been on some tough tracks and been a whole second off on runs throughout the day. tell those guys to prep the track real good for you where you race lol ! seriously though 14.6 looks better than 14.9 but the difference in time is a few blinks of an eye, keep an eye out for any sort of event that you think they are going to prep the track real good and make some passes.

Hey Alex,

I heard they repaved PIR. Is this true? If so it's about time, the track was getting pretty rough. I can't wait to get up there again, it's been a while. Keep me posted when you go again and I'll try to get out there with ya.

BTW, those are good numbers N/A

I've get my best 60's (1.8's) running my BFG's at 13 psi cold, and about a 8-10 sec burn out. Though I have a stutter box in my car and do my burn out in second to build heat faster. Every track is also different and prep and temps play a big roll. But I would definately try a lower psi next time...maybe try 15 psi first and see how that works.

Nah they arent repaving it the are building a completely new drag strip close to the entrance. its not even close to being done though so maybe by the end of the season or next year. The next time i am probably going is March 2nd.
