2002SE 6MT Throwing P1031

I can't seem to find anything about my max throwing a P1031 code. It runs a little rough sometimes (it isnt fluid from 1k rpm to 6k rpm -- but its reasonable), but not horrible. The manual set I downloaded (the 30mb of PDF's) doesn't seem to mention how to deal with this code. The only thing I see searching is a reference to a recall for 04 maximas .. which mine is not.

I have 2 o2 sensors on a fake o2 sensor signal generator, and aftermarket ebay headers.

Thoughts?

I've also reset the ECU. I let it run ~10 minutes, shut it off for ~10 minutes, then idled it for another 10 minutes and when I came back out the MIL light was on again, throwing a P1031 still.

Am I reading the code right? It flashes slowly 10 times, fast 10 times, then thrice, then once. Then repeats the 10 slowly.

Your code is P0031.

You're reading the first digit incorrectly, it's supposed to be slower:

I can't find a concise explanation for what a P0031 refers to. It says "BANK 1 HEATED o2 SENSOR".. Does that mean I need:

(Parts page @ Rock Auto for Maxima):
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raca...&parttype=5132

BOSCH Part # 13968 More Info {Oxygen Sensor}
Two required; 4 Wire; Heated; Check / Replace Interval: 100,000 Miles; OE Type - Upstream

One of those?

Bank1 Sensor 1, right (the one by the firewall)? That pos fails when you install headers. I assume from it running rich and they're old anyway. I just replaced mine and it has made a difference. The sensor controls timing and AFR, so it jacks your perf. up when it's bad. I'm strapped for cash so I just bought the universal bosch for 60 bucks and spliced it in. I would solder the wires together to keep the resistance low as not to screw with the signal.

That should be 3 wire. The secondaries are 4 wire.
I'm pretty sure about that, I did just replace mine lol. If not, then I'm definitely going retarded.

First mistake ebay headers = no hp gains, hehe just busting your ***** lol, did you get the o2 simulator for 02sim.com, also to which two o2 sensors did you hook it up to? and did you get a dual band or single band o2 simulator. You might have wired the o2 sim wrong and its throwing that code. Also if you wired it right what did you do with the o2 sensors, if you removed the secondary o2 sensors completely then you need to run a resistor to those sensors.
