wanted, old midrange agp8x video card
i just built an old system for my computer illiterate parents from spare parts i had laying around on an old socket A mobo with a barton 3200+ processor. right now its got a cheesy geforce 5200 on it and cant really run vista's ultimates aero features. Im looking for a good deal on an old midrange nvidia card, ex)geforce 6600, 7600, with and agp8x interface. let me know if you got one laying around and name a price. . thanks.

thanks for the tip, ill edit the my prices,
checked ebay, nothing worth looking at, too much new stuff on there. i dont even like to look on ebay anymore. i emailed 2 peeps from craigslist but no response.
the build actually has xp on it right now. i have an old gf 6600 on my vista pc at it barely registers 3.7 on vista rating. 4.1 with a small OC. so i think i need at least a 6600to get nice aero effects.
the cpu actually a xp barton 2500+, i OCed it to 197/11 HTT/fsb (whatever you like to call it), so its running at 3200+. it runs XP fine. i wanna try vista , if its no good i can always go back to XP.

is that the x1600, x1600xt, or x1600 pro, there are pretty big differences between them. i do think that card will suit what i need it for pretty well depending on price. what are you looking for it.

oh, for anyone who cares, i installed vista on the socket A system. it runs fine for what my parents and lil sis will use it for. not any slower than XP. only prob was some of the chipset (force 2 ultra)hardware doesnt like vista, i had to research online to find newer drivers that will work and like vista. The only things that didnt work were the SM bus driver (u can use an nforce 4 one), the ethernet (vista has it own driver that works fine, just cant use the nforce driver) and onbaord audio (which realtek made a fix for, u can download for free). i have 2 gigs of ram so im sure that helps alot, i prolly wouldnt have done it with only 1 gig.
so if anyone has an old nforce 2 rig and wants to try vista, u can do it. just have to find makeshift driver, and make sure u got 2 gigs of ram.
the geforce 5200 works ok on vista, but when u drag windows around its laggy. works alot smoother when you turn off aero features.

Tons of good deals going on since they're enthusiasts and switch out components a lot.
I think that ATI you have may be either 4x or 8x and may work for him. The 64mb vga will probrably be on par with what he has now.
.....but it was over 50 today.....( sinus FTL)
