Car Sponsorships???

I just got a phone call from a broker for car sponsorships. What a joke.

"Hey man, I am from (sponsor company) and I would like to talk to you about sponsorships man. You have an awesome car man and I would like to get you approved for this today..blah, blah, blah" Spoken at a very fast pace.

First, if you are a legitimate business you do not talk like a 14 year old trying to sound cool, using man and dude and awesome many times over. Speak to me like a business person and I will take you seriously. Speak in ebonics and I laugh.

Second, I should not have to pay a fee to get your products and then advertise for you. The deal was I would pay $89 then I would buy parts and get reimbursed for getting trophies. Or I would get parts at a discount (10-20%) and then hand out fliers at car shows for them. HUH???!! I have had some endorsement or sponsor deals. They have always been a huge discount on the part (like 50% or 10% under cost) and I had to have a decal on my car for one year advertising the company at car shows. Never was I asked to pay up front or get reimbursed for trophies.

Third, legit businesses do not need your information "today". I asked him to email some information so I could read over it. The conversation went right back to "it is just as I said, man. You pay $89 and I can get you approved today, man, so you can start buying parts at a discount...".

Do people really fall for this crap?

Then let's hope some of them read this and understand, anyone who wants your money without you getting anything solid in return, or asks for your personal information without you getting something in return, or offers you something that is too good to be true, or pushes you to get involved now, is scamming you.

If you all email me your bank accounts i can get your tax return sent within 5 minutes of receiving your info.

Also will need your social security number and your mom's maiden name for verification.

It's the shizzNUTS!

you are a good target though. you put a boatload of money into the car, which is what it takes to be sponsored.

I don't think he liked it when he told me it was "just $89" and I said "see, that is where you lose me"

Should have asked them where their location was so you can go pay them cash to sponsor you. Maybe their shop can custom fab you a CAI that routes to the passenger side bumper for even cooler air!
