have someone hit the gas while you are standing over the engine listening.

it could be your resonator or airbox. just try to find out where the noise is coming from.

a dirty throttle body wouldnt cause whistling tho

it would just be a weak throttle response and a erratic idle.

if you see any kind of hole or crack in the airbox or intake tubing just patch it up with some duct tape until you can find a replacement at a junkyard/in the classifieds.

buzzing is usually an exhaust issue. but its pretty hard to diagnose without seeing or hearing the car.

naw i have the evap canister CEL code on mine 24/7. if im thinking of the same thing, its /purely an emissions code, no effect on performance or mpg.

just take it to a midas, go in the back and offer one of the mechanics 20 bux to find out wtf is going on

from there you can troubleshoot on your own, and in some cases, fix it on your own.
