Removed antenna, keyless/clock/homelink dead.

I swapped the working antenna from my Max to the I30 only to find that the I30's plug was corroded and filled with water. Not thinking I cut the connector from the Max while the battery was STILL connected to make a pigtail to splice in. I did the same thing on the I30 but everything in that car works.

I have a feeling I may have fried the LCU for the keyless in the trunk or at least tripped the BCM with dead/no signal/error from that unit. The only items that do not work are the homelink, keyless (all functions), and clock. I would swap in the I30 LCU but I am afraid to fry that one as well. As it is now, I spliced the wires into the I30 plug (which was corroded but did not cause these problems on the I30) to complete the circut rather than terminate each wire.

The specific wires that were cut were on the antenna plug are:

-Black
-Black/Red tracer/small silver markings
-Pink

Thanks for any help!

check all fuses... then try disconnecting the units for a couple of minutes and seeing what happens..

You only blew fuse #40 (7.5 amp) it protects the clock & power antenna circuit . Just replace it you should be fine. That's what fuses are for.

Cool guys, I forgot to mention it got dark after I swapped the two and I didn't check the fuses. Will update tomorrow when I get a chance to get a look at them.

1st thing I checked when I got home and had that nice little burn and split fuse LOL. Appreciate it.

As far as finding what runs off of each # fuse (some are just labled "elec") did you use the FSM and what section? I looked through the EL section and had diagrams of the fusebox but no labels. Thanks again.

i too would like to know what each fuse is specifically for.

also, it always is nice to find out you just blew a fuse when something doesnt work rather than finding out you fried something

Yes I used FSM, EL section page EL-109. I understand how to read wiring diagams and troubleshoot electrical circuits. That helps also.

I will take a look. Do you just follow the path of the wires on the diagram more or less?

If you look at page EL-129 you can see the power antenna circuit, also protected by fuse#40.

You are welcome. Following the path of the wiring would work. Most of these circuits are relatively simple.
