im looking to get strut bars for my max, i dont know whether i should bother spending my time and money on something that wont work.

what should i expect out of getting this?

is just the front necessary or do both make a major difference?

It definitely stabilizes the front end a lot. I regret buying a universal ebay one though because it ended up melting one of my EGR hoses. You get what you pay for.

wat???

anyway dont think of a STB as a suspension mod think of it as chassis stiffening and then it makes sense, it reduces body roll slightly, increases steering response(especially on lowered cars), makes the car feel a bit tighter

If you want to get technical, it was actually the top hose that connects to the EVAP canister purge control valve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Front...QQcmdZViewItem
That is the kind of strut bar it was; sat on top of that hose when installed, and only after it threw an emissions code did I realize how hot the bar would get after a drive. I'm terribly sorry I didn't elaborate more earlier-I was simply adding my 2 cents and forgot there were people like you on the board, always eager to attack someone's credibility when they have a smaller postcount. And Crusher I have a 4th gen.

yes this is what happened to me too. i got a cheapo Ebay bar and it sat too close to one of the EGR hoses - so when it heated up from driving, the bar sat on the rubber tubing and began to melt it. luckily i was able to notice the damage and bend it out of the way.

and yea im on stock suspension, and quite honestly i dont think this bar did anything for me.

Thank you for replying-I knew I couldn't be the only one who experienced this. Sorry to derail OP but that was never my intention.
