ABS humming

Today I was driving and I hear a humming coming from the car after the initial exceleration was done. I thought it was my ABS so I went around the abs pump and unplugged all the plugs and it stopped. I'm not to familiar with these it's my first Max w/abs. What are the "down the road" consequences to what I've done?

I don't know if there are any long term consequences except no ABS but I had a similar problem happen a few times to me. If I gave the top of the unit a thump with a screwdriver or wrench it would shut off. It happened several times over a few months and then hasn't happened again in the last three years.

I just wanted to know if it's safe. I had a Lincoln Towncar and the ABS started acting funny. I took it to the dealer and ask how much it would cost to fix? They told me $600.00. I got out the owners manual, found out where the ABS fuse was, took it out and kept it movin. I never had a problem with my brakes after that. I wanted to know if the Maxes kinda worked the same way.

hell

but theres a way out of that consequence ... pop these relays out, clean contacts, add contact grease. Also on ALL contacts ... see p14.

Theses under ABS cover, see http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/18

ABS has self diagnostics. Check the linky above, stump the diag....

I cant see how that issue could be bubble -related. Anyways, fluids have to be swapped every 2yrs, just do it.

Why do you say "hell" what gonna happen worse case scenario? I know someone who removed the whole ABS system from his Max all together. That was 3 yrs. ago. I haven't seen him in a while but what do you think happened to his car?

If ABS is out, that doesnt matter but in stoppin distance.

As u asked the worst case, I also included your sig into my answer: it is not fast but waiting stationary in the distance. Nobody should get there with or w/o ABS = prioritizing all during our life is most important. In the ABS-issue, I think u did the right selection...

Btw, the buzzing sound can also 'kill' the battery; I think ABS is better to be out, than intermittently malfunctioning. Be happy, most ppl dont have ABS. But try running the diag, replacing the relays.

Where are the ABS relays I looked all around but couldn't find em. I see something marked anti skid but someone told me that had something to do w/the operation of the transmission.

on ALL USDM cars, if you unplug the ABS electronics the brakes will still function normally.
if you leave it connected you may wake up to a dead battery (BTDT).
