What floor jack height ranges are good for our cars?

Has anyone owned the harbor freight racing jack(non rapid pump)? any complaints about them?

3" to 14.25" range.

 

Depends on how high you want it to go...which usually somewhat depends on what jackstands you use.

 

14.25" is too low. Most people use 19" i think you could really get by with a 18". Costco has a nice one for about $140 and Sears has a 1.5 ton jack that weighs 40lb, 3-7/8 in. to 18-1/2 in. its $220 at my local sears

 

much cheaper .... use a piece of wood on top of the jack (MAKE SURE IT'S CENTERED!!!!!) and lift the car. Also, more work ... but it works. Lift the car as much as you can, set the stands, then add the wood to gain more height. Just be carefull of where you jack the car up .... don't use the sub frame rails, too soft.
