Leaking Heater Core Issue

Hi My 98 max has a bad leak from its heater core i have notice radiator fluid under the carpet on the passenger side after further investigations i found out it was the heater core. There is a forum on how to replace it .It seems like a long procedure .Is there a way to bypass it all together , mean no need to run the radiator fluid through it .Because of this leak i have to top up the radiator almost every day.

to remove the heater core you have to take out the dash. but if you want to bypass it you can go to autozone and there is a piece that you can buy that connects the two hoses where they run into the firewall.

You also want to ask yourself how long your radiator is going to last.

If your heater core started leaking it's likely due to massive buidlup of corrosive compounds in your cooling system. The radiator is made of the same material so it won't be long before it starts leaking as well. Might be smart to start looking for a good used one now. I would.

Actually the best way to bypass it would be at the coolant log.

Also a lot of the steps in the How to are not needed. The dash support bar doesn't need to be removed nor does the heater core assembly unit. Now that I think about it I'm not even sure the dash has to come out. I will take a look.

Since your a 98 and the airbag is difficult to remove with the dash in the dash has to come out. If you wanted to remove the airbag you should have enough room to remove the ac evaporator assembly with the dash in.
