Another quiet Sunday afternoon.
Another quiet Sunday afternoon.
This is the 2nd Street Warz event of the year. Not as many racers because of the distance (3 hrs from Toronto) but still a $350 afternoon. Same trophy as last race. My total is now up to $1900 for the year.
You will notice the times aren't all that quick, I just run as fast as necessary to cross the finish line first.
The pics and videos are from Guelph racing a local club that covers the Sport Compact events.

The $1900 is my total for 2008, this race I won $350 for 1st.
Also my M&H slicks are toast so I am using up a pair of M/T 22's on the millenia wheels and a pair of M/T 24.5's on my Kosei K1's. I bought another pair of M&H 23x7.5x15's which I will mount when the 24.5's are shot which is real soon. For anyone interested I got the M&H's directly from M&H for $150 ea and $28 shipping to Canada which is a real deal compared to what they cost locally.

Congrats on the trophy and positive cash flow. Your car looks like a sleeper, looks very stock, exhaust etc, but you are flying. You're not spraying or turbo, how are you going so fast? Thanks for posting videos, impressive!!
I'm still kind of new to the whole 1/4 racing but I enjoy it a lot.
So help me make sure I understand.
1. You are bracket racing.
2. You both choose a time of 12.50, which means you cannot finish faster than that time.
3. The first one to cross the finish line wins, as long as you don't finish faster than your designated 12.50 time. I like the fact they start you guys together, I've seen some bracket racing where one car is getting a huge headstart and the other guy place catch up. Not as fun to watch.
4. In the first race you crossed the finish line first even though the Civic ran a faster 1/4mi 12.776 to your 12.794 and crossed the finish line going 113mph while you finished going 103mph. Did you just crush him in reaction time or something?
5. The second race very similar but what caused that Z24 rear to bounce like it did just past the start lights?

2. The time is chosen by the event organizer but yes you cannot finish faster than 12.5.
3. Yes
4. Yes, reaction time is crucial. Against the Civic the rt's were .096 vs a .240, against the Z24 it was .116 to a .359. It's much harder to get a low reaction time with the pro tree because you can't anticipate like the sportsman tree. These guys aren't used to the pro tree and also don't get the practice I do.
5. The Z24 was shifting from 1st to 2nd hence the bounce. If you watch carefully you can see his other shifts as well but not as pronounced as the 1-2. I knew I was ahead and the Z24 couldn't catch me so I let off at the end just to ensure I didn't run faster than 12.5
The rules etc are here if you are interested. Check out Street Warz.

Wow. Well........I've got the 3.5 part for my car
1. This is not a true bracket race, it's a headsup race for cars running 12.5 and slower on a .500 pro tree so its more like a 12.5 index race.
2. The time is chosen by the event organizer but yes you cannot finish faster than 12.5.

Yup the yellow, yellow, yellow, green is the sportsman tree. When they switch to pro tree (its all done with their computer) all 3 yellow flash at once then green so you can't red light unless your car is very fast, but you also can't get a great reaction time.
Heck, I'd even try a bracket if I can get a test/tune night in. The car isn't extremely fast but pretty consistent, bottom line, it's alway fun.
What are the cam specs? (deboluz, correct?)
HS headers?
What timing & AFR were you tuned at?
What shift points?
Z33IM & Motordyne 5/16" spacer?
Sweet times as usual!
Yes
Timing for Sun was 24 across the board (fairly conservative) and a/f 12.5
Shifts around 6500
Yes
I have 5 maps set up with different timing that I can just switch to at any time. I have one at 5 deg for setting up the a/f then the rest at 24, 26, 28 and 30.
Next weekend is a 2 day event $500 each day (no slicks) I think it will be a 2nd gear launch. I did borrow a couple of 245/40x18's from my Son's Z so I will see if they can hold 1st gear if not 2nd it is. My DR's bit the dust and I'm not buying another pair for 1 event.
The V-Manage controls the variable valve timing only, I think you know what the E-Manage U does. I use the UTEC for engine management, the E-Manage did not work too well with the 2002 ECU, burns coils and very erratic readings.

That's definitely a great deal on the M&H's!! Is that their regular shipping rate too? Via which carrier?
